This project is run by a small but dedicated team of people volunteering their time and effort to a unique project that will help make Newquay more sustainable in a fun, positive and interactive way. Using the Newquay Discovery Trail Map we updated the content and incorporated everything green from flora and fauna, car free days out, how to be a good visitor, to sustainable travel and reprinted the map in July 2008. Thousands of maps have been posted through letter boxes in Newquay, while businesses have been handing them out to their customers and visitors. The maps are available in the Tourist Information Centre FREE of charge!
Following on from the successful launch of the map the Newquay Discovery Website was designed and constructed thanks to support our local Town Council, who were absolutely delighted to see such a wonderful pioneering project and quickly realised the benefits it would have to the town and residents of Newquay.

Ken, Greta Riordan’s father was born in Newquay in 1918. From an early age he loved the natural world and had a strong desire to learn - he was educated at Newquay Secondary School. Throughout his life he collected a comprehensive collection of Cornish books some dating back to the 1800s. Ken was a keen explorer which led him to write copiously about the Cornwall he loved especially his home town; Newquay. Ken sadly died in 2007, however when researching for this project, Greta came across her father's writings, all beautifully handwritten lying in a forgotten corner in his study. A collection of Ken’s writings can now be read for the very first time here on this website. Kenneth Langmaid's writings will help you to explore Newquay, its coastline and beaches on foot and find out about hidden caves, forgotten coves and lost secrets.
