Newquay has a variety of habitats that attract a wide range of species, both flora and fauna.Nature lovers will enjoy habitats such as The Gannel Estuary with its salt marshes that attract sea birds and wading birds as well as a host of other animal species; Rushy Green behind Crantock beach with its special sand dune habitat and unusual flora; Pentire Head with its gorse thickets and teeming bird life. Nearer to the town,the cliffs around the Harbour bloom every summer with wild flowers in abandon;the cry of the herring gull is ever present and of course Newquay's beaches offer a paradise in every rock pool for the exploring mind.
